Alex and Pablo

We went to the Mall of America yesterday and we ran into Pablo from Backyardigans! Alex loves Backyardigans! Tyrone, the moose, is her favorite character from the show. Unfortunately we did not get to see him, but we did see Pablo, the penguin. Alex was a little scared but I could tell she wanted to hug him. She blew him a kiss and we got our picture taken with him. She was so excited!!!

Today has also been a good day in the potty training department! Alex has had a dry diaper (pull up) all day.

Video of Alex at Gymnastics

Here is a video of Alex at last weeks gymnastics class.  She had her third class today.  She still wants me to be next to her during the whole class, but next week we are going to see if she will do the class by herself.  I might have to leave so she doesn't see me.

Keith is coming home in 29 days!  We are so excited to see him!  He has a lot of exams coming up.  He has his last mini exam and then a bunch of shelf exams.  The Shelf exams cover everything from the beginning of medical school so he has to go back and study for everything from first semester also.

Below is the video.  If it doesn't show up it's because I just uploaded it.

Alex and Hailey and Get in Gear 10k

Alex has had a few playdates with Haylie. Click Here for pictures.

She had her second gymnastics class and she did so much better. She is really liking it. Then on Friday's and Saturday's they have open gym so the last few weeks she has invited her little friend Hailey along and her cousin, Zoe.

I am planning to run in the Get in Gear 10k. Sarah and I have ran it twice in the past. It's been a while, but Sarah and I have been running together and training for it. I hope more of you can join us. Click here for the link.

Gymnastics Class

I decided to sign up Alex for a gymnastics class on wednesdays to get out of the house and do something different since she is not in daycare right now.  On the way to her first day of class I was so excited for her, but all she said was that she didn't want to go.  (She is too attached to me and never wants me to leave her).   When class started she wouldn't leave my side so I went with her for the first five minutes but she was so scared so I decided to run off and leave her but all she did was sit there by herself and cry.  So after 15 minutes I went back out there and told her I would stand next to her if she did what everyone else was doing.  After that she had fun for the rest of the class and at the end didn't want to leave.   Alex got to use the rings, the balance beam, she learned to do a somersault, and she jumped on the trampoline.

I decided to take her to the open gym session today (Friday) so that she would get more comfortable with the gym and hopefully she will be able to go to class next Wednesday without me.  We invited her little friend Hailey to come along and the girls had so much fun!  Click below for pics from class and the open gym.

Newspapers from Nov. 1963

I mentioned before in an earlier post that my grandpa kept a bunch of newspapers from WWII and from Nov. 1963 when JFK was assassinated.  Here are the front pages of both the Minneapolis Sunday Tribune and the Minneapolis Star.  It was so neat to look through these newspapers and see the articles and advertisements.  I found a home with four bedrooms advertised for 17,999.00.   If you click on the pictures it will make the picture larger so you can see the dates and try to read some of it.

Alex's First Dental Appointment

Alex went to the dentist for the first time.  She brought along her Braveheart Lion for some moral support.  Unfortunately, the appointment didn't last very long.  It only lasted about two minutes.  Luckily we weren't charged.  She wouldn't let the dental hygienist put anything in her mouth.  The hygienist wanted to count her teeth, but Alex would only let her count two of them.  She didn't want to push Alex and force her to get her teeth cleaned so she said to make Alex another appointment in six weeks.  Hopefully she will be comfortable by then.  She said that at three years old some kids are ready and some kids aren't.  Alex obviously isn't ready.  So we will keep trying.

As you can see from the picture above, I couldn't even keep her in the chair long enough to get a picture.  She just wanted nothing to do with the dentist!
