Rosland Park with Megan, Alex, and Haylie

A few weeks ago I met up with my friends Janet and Sarah and their children Megan and Haylie at Rosland Park in Edina.  The girls had so much fun at this park!   Especially the teeter-totter!  Alex is sure going to miss playing with her friends when we leave!  We are meeting them again tomorrow morning at this same park!  I posted a lot more pictures to my facebook page.  You can check them out there.

More Pictures from Dinner with Jecci

This is Jecci in her college apartment, cooking us dinner!  Yes the kitchen in her apartment is a little dirty!  That's ok.  The whole place brought back a lot of memories from when I went to school here.  I really miss the U of M.
Alex thought she would give the chop sticks a try.  Didn't work out so well, so she ate the rest of her meal with her fork!
Keith, Alex, Jecci and, I.  I have finally gotten these pics off of my camera and about 90 other pictures from the last few weeks.  I will try to post more soon.

We are leaving for Atlanta on Sunday!  We are so excited!

Tea Party and Caramel Apples

Last week Alex and I went over to Sarah and Megan's house for a delicious dinner and the girls had fun playing!  Here they are sipping their evening tea!  Looks like they are having a fun time!
We ended the night with caramel apples!  They we're soooo yummy!  Alex was so excited to bring hers home to share with daddy!

Dinner with Jecci

Last Sunday night we had dinner with Jecci, our Chinese exchange student from the 2007-2008 school year. *Side note- Her name isn't actually "Jecci", it's Mengjia, but since nobody can pronounce it she just has everyone call her Jecci.*  We found out that she came back to the states to go to college at the University of Minnesota, where she is majoring in Math.  Alex of course didn't remember her and was a bit shy, but did warm up to her after about an hour.  One of the things we just loved about having Jecci stay with us was her cooking, so she cooked us a great chinese meal!  We brought home leftovers and ate all of it!  Yummy stuff!
Here we are, in Jecci's apartment near seven corners.  This place brought back so many memories for me!  I spent many weekends in this area.  I was sad to see that Grandma's had closed down!  It's still sitting there empty.

Found a place in Atlanta

So after a lot of looking we did find a place to live in Dunwoody, GA, which is a suburb of Atlanta.  It looks like a really nice place and safe!  By the way the apartment manager of the place I posted about previously had contacted me and when I told him I wasn't interested because of the assaults I had found on crimereports.com he told me, "well, this is Atlanta, there are assaults everywhere.".. really?? I don't think so!  Anyways, here is the link to the place we will be moving into:

Looking for a Place to Live in Atlanta!

Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a while.  I have been so busy trying to find a place to live in Atlanta.  When we first looked into moving there I glanced at the rent of two bedroom apartments, townhomes, and homes and it was really cheap!  Like 600-700 a month.  But I found out that those places that are in those price ranges are not in the best areas!  So I'm going to have to spend more money.  What I do is I look at apartmentratings.com to see what people have wrote about the places and I understand that some people could be venting and not all of it is true.  But when all I see is negative reviews I go to crimereports.com and enter in the address and I find out how the crime is.  Here is an example of place that I was interested in and of course decided against it:
A review from apartmentratings.com:
Here is an excerpt:
several apartments were raided by a group of men who tied up the families and robbed them. This of course was drug related. (Apparently many of the people living in this complex are drug dealers). Later that evening, the security gates (which were just fixed about 2 weeks ago) were open (they no longer close) and the security guard was walking the property with a shot-gun. For your safety please find somewhere else to live, it's only a matter of time before someone is actually killed.

Ok so not sure if I really want to live in a place where families are tied up and burglarized!

Ok so not sure if I want to live in a place where assaults are happening at all hours of the day!  Cars are being stolen and there are burglaries on a regular basis!

I have noticed some of the nicer places don't have these problems but of course they charge more for rent.

Rotations Starting October 25th in Atlanta, GA

Keith is starting his clinical rotations on Oct. 25th in Atlanta!  We are so excited!  He is starting off with a 12 week Internal Medicine rotation and then goes to a 6 week OB/GYN rotation.  We are now looking for places to live in Atlanta.  Right now we are thinking of the northern suburbs- Duluth, GA.  I know someone that lives there and I hear it is a really nice suburb.

Keith- The Paramedic

Before med school Keith was a Paramedic for Mayo Medical Transport- Gold Cross.  Here he is on the right side of the picture with goggles on for a Mayo brochure.  We found this while going through our things the other day.  Keith was a Paramedic for 13 years before heading to med school!

Moving to Atlanta

Picture above is of Alex fast asleep while the rest of us watched the Saints beat the Vikings last night.  I guess Alex isn't into Football as much as the rest of us! :)

Keith found out today that he is going to do his rotations in Atlanta!  I'm so sooooo excited to move there!  I don't have his full schedule yet but I will let you all know what his first rotation will be when I get it.  He was offered an Oncology/Hematology rotation in Maryland but it overlapped with the start date for Atlanta so he decided to hold off.  Plus he would like to try and get more of his cores in before he does a rotation like Oncology/Hematology.

Sibley Park

We went to Mankato for Keith's dental appointment and ended up meeting up with some friends that Keith used to work with.  They have a little boy that just turned three, named Tobin.  He is such a cutie!  Alex was a little shy around him or maybe she took daddy's advice not to talk to boys a little too seriously! :)  We went to Sibley Park in Mankato.  We hadn't been there in three years and it has changed so much.  Click below for pictures:

Como Zoo

Forgot to post this awhile ago. Jim and Becky headed up to the Como Zoo with Beth and we met them out there. The girls had such a good time and so did the dad's, as you can see!

All of Keith's health forms we're approved so now we are waiting to hear where we will be going. I can't wait! I hope we find out next week!
